Privacy summary
StopAlert is a GPS location alarm app. The App helps you choose a destination, track your distance to it, and receive an alert when you are close to that destination.
Location-based alerts
Location data is used to calculate distance, ETA, GPS accuracy and arrival alerts.
Local app data
Saved stops, schedules, alarm settings, preferences and feedback are primarily stored locally.
Google services
The App uses Google Maps, Places, AdMob, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play Billing and Play updates.
Plain-language promise: We do not sell your personal information. We do not use background location for advertising. Background location is used only for user-enabled destination alerts.
1. Who we are
StopAlert is a destination alert app that helps you set places, monitor your distance to those places, and receive alarms or notifications when you are close to your selected destination.
The developer and publisher of the App is Abhin Shah. You can contact us at contact.stopalert@gmail.com.
2. Information we access, collect and use
We access or process only the information needed to provide destination alerts, maintain app reliability, show ads where applicable, handle purchases, and respond to support requests.
| Data or permission | Purpose | Storage or sharing |
|---|---|---|
| Precise and approximate location | To show your current position on the map, search around your area, calculate distance to saved stops, estimate arrival time and trigger destination alerts. | Used while tracking is active or when you use location-based features. Saved destination coordinates are stored locally on your device. |
| Background location | To continue monitoring your distance to a selected destination when the App is closed, minimized or the phone is locked. | Used only for active or scheduled destination alerts. We do not sell location data or use background location for ads. |
| Saved stops and schedules | To save destination name, address, latitude, longitude, alert radius, category, schedule time and repeat days. | Stored locally in the App database on your device. |
| Tracking session status | To show active and recent alert state, such as distance remaining, ETA, GPS accuracy, proximity state, start time and finish time. | Stored locally on your device to keep the App state consistent. |
| App preferences | To remember settings such as theme, language, units, alarm volume, sound, vibration, repeat alarm, headset playback, adaptive tracking and onboarding progress. | Stored locally on your device using Android storage and preferences. |
| Notifications, full-screen notifications, vibration, wake lock and exact alarms | To deliver destination alerts, including alerts that can wake the screen, ring or vibrate when allowed by your device settings. | Used on your device for alert delivery. These permissions do not give us access to your messages or notification content from other apps. |
| Device restart and app update events | To restore scheduled or running alerts after device restart or app update, if you enabled those alerts. | Processed locally on your device. |
| Trip feedback, if submitted in the App | To record your rating, what worked well, what went wrong and suggestions for improving alerts. | Stored locally on your device unless you separately choose to send feedback to us by email. |
| Support emails | To respond when you contact us for help, feedback, privacy requests or bug reports. | Stored in our email systems for support and record-keeping. |
| Diagnostics and crash information | To detect crashes, improve reliability and troubleshoot problems. | Processed through Firebase Crashlytics and may include device and app diagnostic information. |
| Advertising data | To show and measure banner, interstitial and app-open advertisements where applicable. | Processed by Google AdMob, which may use advertising identifiers and device data according to Google's policies. |
| Purchase and subscription information | To offer, verify, restore and manage premium subscriptions or purchases. | Processed by Google Play Billing. The App may store local premium status needed to enable premium features. |
3. Background location disclosure
Important: StopAlert collects location data to enable active destination alerts, scheduled destination alerts and arrival notifications even when the App is closed or not in use.
Background location is core to StopAlert's destination alarm feature. It allows the App to alert you when you are approaching a saved stop, even if the App is not visible or your device is locked.
If you do not grant background location permission, StopAlert may still work while the App is open, but alerts may be delayed or unavailable when the App is in the background.
You can stop active tracking in the App, cancel schedules, delete saved stops, or revoke location permission at any time in your Android device settings. Location monitoring stops when the relevant alert is stopped, canceled, completed or disabled.
4. How we use information
- To provide maps, place search, saved destination alerts, scheduled alerts and alarm delivery.
- To calculate distance, ETA, GPS accuracy and proximity to your selected stop.
- To remember your app settings and saved destinations.
- To restore active or scheduled alerts after a restart or app update.
- To display advertisements and manage premium subscription status.
- To diagnose crashes, improve reliability and respond to support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights if required.
5. Third-party services
The App uses third-party services that may collect or process information under their own policies:
- Google Maps Platform and Google Places: used for maps, map display, place search, autocomplete and destination details.
- Google AdMob: used to show ads and measure ad performance. May process the Android Advertising ID (AAID), device information, approximate location and ad interactions.
- Firebase Crashlytics: used for crash reporting and diagnostics. May collect device model, OS version, app version, crash stack traces and a temporary installation identifier. It does not collect personally identifiable information.
- Google Play Billing: used to process subscriptions and restore premium access.
- Google Play In-App Updates: used to help keep the App updated.
You can review Google's privacy practices at Google Privacy Policy and Google's advertising information at Google advertising technologies.
6. Ads and personalized advertising
StopAlert may show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may process device information, the Android Advertising ID (AAID), approximate location (derived from IP address or coarse network signals), ad impressions and ad interactions to serve and measure ads. Depending on your settings and applicable law, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
Important: AdMob may use coarse or approximate location for ad relevance, but StopAlert never shares your precise GPS coordinates, saved stops, schedules, or background location data with advertisers.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, StopAlert shows a consent prompt powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before serving personalized ads. You can change your consent choice at any time inside the App.
You can also manage ad personalization or reset your Advertising ID in your Android device settings, such as through Settings > Privacy > Ads or Settings > Google > Ads, depending on your Android version and device manufacturer.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
If you buy or subscribe to a premium plan, payment and purchase processing is handled by Google Play. We do not receive or store your credit card number or full payment details. The App may store a local premium status flag so premium features can be enabled or restored.
8. Data storage, retention and deletion
StopAlert does not require you to create an account. Saved stops, schedules, preferences, tracking state and optional in-app feedback are stored on your device. They remain there until you delete them, clear the App's data, uninstall the App or the App replaces them as part of normal operation.
You can delete your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual saved stops or canceling schedules inside the App.
- Clearing the App's storage in Android Settings > Apps > StopAlert > Storage.
- Uninstalling the App to remove all locally stored App data from your device.
Crash and diagnostic data processed by Firebase Crashlytics and ad data processed by AdMob are retained according to the policies and settings of those providers. Support emails are retained as long as needed to respond to you, maintain records and comply with legal requirements.
To request help with privacy, deletion, access or correction of any data we hold (such as support emails or diagnostic records), contact us at contact.stopalert@gmail.com. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.
9. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share or allow processing of information only as described below:
- With Google services used by the App, including Maps, Places, AdMob, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play Billing and Play updates.
- With service providers who help us operate, diagnose or support the App.
- When required by law, legal process, government request, or to protect rights, safety and security.
- With your consent or at your direction, such as when you choose to send us an email.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information associated with the App. Most app data is stored locally on your device, so your device security settings, backups and app-data controls are important. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and controls
- You can grant, deny or revoke location and notification permissions in Android settings.
- You can stop tracking, cancel schedules and delete saved stops inside the App.
- You can clear App data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored App information from your device.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under those ages. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
13. International transfers
We are based in India. Third-party providers used by the App, including Google services, may process information on servers located in other countries. Those countries may have data protection rules that differ from those in your location.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If required by law or platform policy, we may provide additional notice in the App or through other appropriate channels.
